Homemade Chili

1 lb hamburger

1 medium onion, diced

2 cans stewed tomatoes, do not drain (I sometimes use petite diced or crushed if you don’t like tomato chunks)

3 cans beans (I usually use 2 cans dark red kidney beans and then another bean – pinto, or white beans, or light red beans, or even black beans)

1 can diced green chilies (optional)

1/2 green pepper diced small (optional – Grandma Lehman adds this, I don’t usually)

1 tsp salt

1-2 TBSP chili powder, to taste

Instructions:

Brown hamburger and onion. Add remaining ingredients and cover. Simmer for 20-30 minutes. Serve with sour cream, cheese, tortilla chips or crusty bread.
